Math Garden

How Math Garden works

A short guide for grown-ups.

For your child

  1. If you have more than one child, they tap their name under Who's learning?
  2. The big Keep going card opens the lesson they were working on. For a new learner it says Start here.
  3. Or choose Book 3A or 3B by page and question, or School worksheets by uploaded page.
  4. Each lesson works through one question step by step on a whiteboard, with spoken help.

A question gets a check mark only when your child has worked through the lesson steps. Just opening a lesson doesn't count. A lesson that's been opened but not finished shows Started.

Making lessons from homework

  1. Open Grown-ups. Leave Identify from photo selected, or choose the book or School worksheet yourself.
  2. Choose The whole page or One question. For one question, write which one in the note, like "question 5".
  3. Take a clear photo of the whole page, including its title or footer. A printed page number is optional. You can add up to 4 photos.

Your photos are saved as soon as you upload them. You can leave the page. Your uploads shows what's happening:

Waiting its turn / In line
Saved. Lesson making hasn't started yet.
Starting / Making your lessons
Lessons are being made now. The time depends on the page and the checks needed.
Lessons ready / Some lessons are ready
Open them from the upload, or find them in your child's books or School worksheets.
Which question? / Please take a new photo
We need something from you. The message says what to do.
Paused
Your photos are saved, and the message says why lesson making stopped. It doesn't restart on its own unless the message says so.
Paused for a review
Lessons were made, but a person has to check them before they appear.
We couldn't confirm the result
Something stopped before we could tell whether lessons were made. Nothing is repeated automatically.
Saved from the earlier version
An upload from before the new lessons. The photos are kept. Upload the page again to make new lessons.
